Building Community: Local Resilient Regenerative

The Media Circle of Aunts & Uncles is a Transition Town Media project, modeled on the Philadelphia version started by Judy Wicks, to offer low-interest loans and social capital to under-resourced new and existing entrepreneurs in order to co-create a more equitable, compassionate, sustainable, and vibrant local economy in the Greater Media area, including the city of Chester.

The demands of today’s world can seem overwhelming at times. We have found that a community fire circle can be the perfect place to relax, recharge and reconnect with friends, old and new.

The Tree Lovers Collective was started in 2023 by a group of tree enthusiasts in the Greater Media area. The group is examining data and laws surrounding our trees, to ensure that the trees are well-represented in human decisions.

Our goal is to educate and to share resources with our neighbors in the Greater Media communities about the value of pesticide-free and herbicide-free native gardens and landscapes, and to inspire and facilitate pesticide-free/herbicide-free native gardening/landscaping in yards.

We believe in the power of locally-grown and locally-produced food—not only as a means of nourishing and sustaining our bodies, but a process to sustain our community.

The mission of the FreeStore is to encourage the community to re-use, re-purpose, and recycle items no longer needed or wanted, by making those items available to others at no cost.

Create hyper-local study groups that help connect communities at the block level to learn about & practice disaster resiliency, lowering our carbon footprint, water stewardship, neighborhood livability & empowering others.
