Local Food

Mission Statement

Our mission is to foster a vital and regenerative community through the promotion and support of local food systems. We believe in the power of locally-grown and locally-produced food—not only as a means of nourishing and sustaining our bodies, but a process to sustain our community.

Cultivating Community
through Local Food

We are committed to supporting local farms and establishments that share our vision, recognizing their crucial role in preserving our environment, strengthening our economy, and enriching our community. Through education, advocacy, and direct action, we strive to connect individuals to their food sources, encourage sustainable and regenerative practices, and cultivate a sense of community rooted in the shared value of local food.

Local Food

The food group is a way to connect with others who share your passion. We are always looking for innovative ways to encourage our community to support local food.

Would you like to write a food blog, or organize farm or restaurant tours?

Help us find more ways to support local farms. We would love to brainstorm with you and, of course, have some fun.

Impact Highlights

We created a Local Food Guide to make it easy for you to locate and support local food sources: Farms, Community Supported Agriculture (CSA) farms, Farmers Markets, Restaurants, and Retail markets.

Beginning in April 2024, we started tours of local farms.

At TTGM events that serve food, we prioritize local and healthy food options.

Support Local Food: Join a CSA!

Since COVID, many have decided to grow their own food because it's cheaper, it's easier to gather, and it's fresher. It also reduces your carbon footprint on the planet because you do not have to drive to the store. But, if you don’t have the time, space, or your veggies are being eaten by deer, squirrels or groundhogs, you →

Eating Hemp

Our group of Happy Hempsters gathered at Deanna and David Turner's home for an evening of culinary exploration. The evening was broken into two parts: a live baking session during which we experimented with hemp-enhanced dough and a Zoom session where we did a recap and connected with the University of the Sciences students who are working with the Transition →
