TTM Gets Down to Business

January 20, 2018 by Sari Leave a Comment

Every year, TTM pauses its busy schedule to take stock of what we’re doing, what we’ve accomplished, and how well our activities are mapping to our vision. Our Annual Planning session will be held this year on Sat, Jan 27th, 2018 from 9AM to 3:30PM and, if you’d like to weigh in on what would help make the Media area more resilient, happier, healthier, easier on the planet and more caring of each other, you’re welcome to join us!

Because we have such a broad spectrum of interest—creating a better future based on kindness and sharing, caring for our families and neighbors and the planet, lightening our footprint, and celebrating the abundance and joy inherent in our world—there’s a wealth of projects we could be taking on. (See our board from last year’s brainstorming!) Annual Planning is where we choose among the options so we don’t spread ourselves too thin. Would you like to weigh in on this? Send us an email and let us know—we’d love to have your input!

Join us as we plan our year’s priorities, projects, and events. Everyone is invited—come and share your ideas about what we should be working on to make Media a more resilient town, build a stronger community, and build a better future. Some projects that may be discussed include:

  • promoting more solar or energy efficiency
  • increasing access to local food
  • supporting local businesses
  • decreasing our trash by composting kitchen scraps
  • supporting our Timebank and Free Store
  • managing an online tool lending library
  • organizing a fun bicycle event
  • organizing potluck dinners
  • film screenings, outside speakers, and other programs.

The possibilities are wide open—all it takes is someone with an idea and enough volunteers to take it on.

You can count on it being a fun, energizing, and inspiring day—and you just might find a project that sings to you! Please arrive by 8:30AM at the Baker & Lemon St entrance of the First United Methodist Church (in back of the Church). You can register, help yourself to breakfast snacks and coffee or tea, and get settled in so we can start right at 9AM. We’ll serve lunch at noon—a buffet meal with meat & vegetarian dishes from Shere-E-Punjab Indian restaurant—and wrap up by 3:30PM (although by that time it’s usually hard to get people to leave, they’re so engaged in conversation!). Feel free to bring your own lunch and snacks if you prefer. To cover expenses, we’re asking $20 if you’re having lunch, $10 without lunch.

RSVPs are greatly appreciated so we know how much lunch to order and how many chairs to set out. Please contact us at info@transitiontownmedia.org to let us know you’re coming.
