Smart Energy Use Reduces the Burden on Your Wallet and the Planet

Our Energy Group’s mission is to enable us to reduce home energy usage as well as learning how to localize our energy systems to reduce our carbon emissions, increase our resilience, and strengthen our local economy. Although we currently do not meet as a group, we have organized events on home weatherization and energy audits to help residents lower their energy usage.

Our most notable project was the Solarize Greater Media campaign in 2015-16. This project allowed 43 homes in the Greater Media area to have solar panels installed more cheaply and easily by negotiating a group discount with a local solar installer. For more details, read our blog post, summarizing the project. We were especially pleased to support other Solarize projects. such as Solarize Philly and Solarize Delco, after our project completed.
