Last night we launched the TTM Food Group’s Greater Media Backyard Veggie Garden Project at our monthly event! The project’s goal is to encourage and support backyard veggie gardening in the Greater Media area.
Lots of eager gardeners turned up to hear their neighbors wax eloquently about growing veggies. Amy Johnson, Director of Outreach for Greener Partners (our co-sponsor), gave us a thrilling peek at her famous and fabulous small veggie garden. Her garden is truly a model for small space gardeners! Don Kennedy talked about veggie gardening with less than optimal sun, and had pictures to prove it. Marty Roelandt explained how planting a frontyard veggie garden creates community. Ira Josephs gave us lots of great tips for frugal gardening. Tori Vannes did a show and tell about gardening with kids, as well as informing us about the brand new Walden School Veggie Garden Project. We were lucky to have Noah Gress, one of our local farmers, talk about his new project, Farm Days.
