You did everything possible to bury me – But you forgot that I am a seed”
~ Dinos Christianopoulos, greek poet
Join TTM’s Reskilling Working Group at our upcoming potluck dinner event and interactive workshop: “Essential Seed Saving,” this Saturday, August 23rd, 4:30 to 6:30 pm. The event will be at a private residence just outside of Media Borough. Stroll through the vegetable garden, identify seeds that may be saved, seeds that may be eaten, and discuss the nutritional value of various seeds.
We are teaching and will be learning some history and culture around seed saving, past and present importance of seed saving, and the benefits and process for saving genetically pure heirloom seeds with a demonstration on identifying and isolating flowers to prevent cross pollination. Our hands-on project will include separating and fermenting tomato seeds for home use next year. Seed of an Idea founder Barbara Briggs will share her 100% certified organic seed packets with us.
Bring a dish for the pot luck supper and email Donna Cusano by August 22nd to to RSVP for this exciting event.
