Bringing in Light and Cheer – Winter Solstice!

November 22, 2018 by Sari Leave a Comment

Join Transition Town Media for a rich and spirited celebration of the Winter Solstice on Sunday, Dec 23rd, 2018, 7 – 9 pm, at the Unitarian Universalist Church of Delaware County, 145 W. Rose Tree Rd, Media. The evening will be filled with soulful music and powerful wisdom from different world traditions.

Why celebrate solstice? No matter what we believe, the earth moves the same for all of us. Celebrating the natural shift from darkness to light is a way to cut through all the holiday commercialization and emotional roller-coastering. Celebrating our common natural rhythm helps to bring deeper meaning to the season because it renews our connectedness with ourselves, each other, and the world around us.

Why celebrate solstice with TTM? Because we’ll take you on a joyful and moving inspirational journey with a unique blend of spiritual celebrants, including Lenni Lenape Chief Dennis Coker, Shinto Priest Ken Kitatani, Buddhist nun and teacher Amy Miller, inter-spiritual minister Joni Carley, legendary jazz artist, Dave Posmontier, vocalists Marcy Francis and Belinda Patrick, percussionist Jan Jeffries, the Solstice Choir, and a sizzling band.

Come raise up body, mind and spirit!

Tickets are $15 (plus $1 processing fee) and can be purchased here. Please reserve your tickets early – they will be $18 at the door.

There are lots of ways to volunteer including singing and serving food. Let us know if you have any questions or if you’d like to be a part of making it happen!
