TTM’s Food Group initiative Greater Media Yardens supports and promotes vegetable gardening in neighborhoodyards.  Known as “Yardening”, the initiative was born out of a passion to encourage residents to nurture and harvest as much organically grown food in Media as possible.

Yardens come in all sizes and manifestations. Some yardens are in pots on a front porch. Some are very prominent in front and side yards. We have a lively Facebook page where we share our ideas, tips, frustrations, and triumphs.

Thanks to a new fund raising idea for our own Free Store, our Facebook page is now full of wonderful images of this locally grown bounty.  We have asked members of the Greater Media Yardens page to share images of their “Yardens Yield” for inclusion in a Greater Media Yardens calendar. Images of Media Yardens, and those in nearby neighborhoods, will be chosen and published in a calendar that will be for sale through TTM channels.  The proceeds of these sales will go toward the maintenance of the Media Free Store.

Even if you are not on Facebook you can still participate. Send us your Yarden images to be considered for inclusion in the calendar.

Please send your large format images to donnacusano@mac.com. Images should be at least 1700 pixels wide.
