Early in the morning of Saturday, September 27, a small, but intrepid group of TTM Reskillers embarked on a journey to IMBY CSA also known as In My Back Yard at Misty Hollow.  This wonderful local farm is owned by Jim and Sally Hammerman and is located just a stones’ throw from Media in Willistown, PA.  Check out all our pics below!

Our TTM group carpooled to IMBY for a potluck breakfast, compost turning, and “weed walk” lead by Hugh Brenner.  Brenner, an IMBY insider, led the walk and taught us how to forage for nutritious and edible herbaceous plants.  Says Brenner:

I’m an amateur naturalist who’s been munching on nature for 45 years.  I’ve learned from my parents, friends, strangers ‘uh, I wouldn’t eat that if I were you’ – books by Bradford Angier, Euell Gibbons, classes with a Mennonite herbalist, Tom Brown and others. Mostly I’ve learned from being quiet and listening to nature.

I study wild foods, medicine, tracking, birding, bugging, awareness and other primitive living skills. I have been studying this for many years and have an eclectic knowledge base. I will share what I know, and look forward to learn more from the group. All are welcome whatever your knowledge.

Interested in similar future events?  Join Hugh Brenner’s Meet-up Group, the TTM Reskilling mailing list, and the TTM Reskilling Facebook group.
