Transition Town Media has added a new resource for local businesses and local shoppers. There was a such a strong interest in supporting more very small local businesses after our very successful Green Sunday event. It’s just a beginning, but we’ve begun a new Facebook group designed to bring together local consumers and businesses.
The TTM Local Business Network Group is an initiative of Transition Town Media (TTM) and is intended to bring together locally owned and operated businesses, producers, suppliers, and shoppers. We ask business to introduce their business to the group including what they sell, if their product(s) are local and fairly traded, and share any contact information like website, street addresses, etsy shops, and facebook pages. This information will be added to the group’s list of local businesses located under the “file” tab on this page. After the introductory posting, local businesses are invited to share new postings about sales, promotions, special events, and job openings. Listings from national chains are not permitted. The rules of this group are subject to change.
This Facebook group joins TTM’s other FB groups like the very popular “Swap” which bring together local folks interested in a particular Transition-friendly theme, as well as venerable local business advocacy groups like Media Business Authority and Fig Media. We hope the TTM Local Business Network Group on Facebook adds another place to support local businesses, especially the smallest home-based businesses. Listing in the group are free. Visit the group today to list your business or find a local provider that meets your consumer needs. Shopping locally is good for everyone in your community.
