Celebrating Summer Solstice 2022

August 3, 2022 by Sari Leave a Comment

On the convergence of Juneteenth, Father’s Day and the Sunday before Summer Solstice, we gathered for a Summer Solstice Community Celebration at Glen Providence Park in Media on June 19, 2022. This event was sponsored by Transition Town Media and organized by our Heart & Soul Events Group.

The park offered the perfect picnic area where local holistic practitioners, artists, and organizations could meet with people, share missions, inspire us, demonstrate healing, lead small activities, and build community. We were so grateful to have so many creative artists and talented health practitioners in our local community.

DJ Gio Santana started the party going with a mix of happy summer music, R&B and soul. The fabulous Joachim Francis finished things off with a rousing drum circle that sent everyone home charged up and inspired.

Thank you for all who came and participated.

Thank you for all who wanted to share their knowledge with the community. You are all very much appreciated. Here’s a list of all the ‘blanket-ers’, links included—check them out!

Alana Coppola for her sound bath.

Village Wellness for their shamanic cleansings and all the information they shared.

Sandy Baggot for her hand massage and bug spray made with essential oils.

David and Deanna for their blanket about hemp and all with can do with it. Want to learn more about Hemp? Check out our Hemp Working Group.

Fred Shamlian and his beautiful sound quartz bowl.

Lynne Templeton from Renewal Studio who shared about food forests and sustainable homes.

Megan Hicks helped us have fun with origami.

Lynn Hartle who made reusable bags out of t-shirts.

Linda Emory sharing about the Friends of Glen Providence Park, the beautiful park we enjoyed today.

Linda Coulson from our widely successful Protecting Biodiversity Working Group.

Ira Josephs who shared info from the Media Fair Trade Committee and who leads our Foraging group with Skip Shuda.

Jake Lamb for staffing the Keep Media Green table.

And of course, Dr Joni Carley, Author of The Alchemy of Power who led the ceremony for us, along with co-organizers of the event, Carol Fanelli and Skip Shuda.

Thank you Emma Medina-Castrejon for documenting this beautiful day.

We all had so much fun.  We hope to see you at future TTM Heart & Soul Events!
