Take Action Fair Wrap-Up

March 26, 2017 by Sari Leave a Comment

Were you at the Take Action Fair on March 18th? It was an amazing event – 35 or more organizations at tables, sharing who they are and what they do. Hundreds of folks eager to learn about them and find a niche they could fill. There was quite literally a buzz in the air. The brain child of Ellen Morfei, the fair came together beautifully in the hands of many dedicated volunteers who wanted to give everyone the chance to find a place to volunteer that satisfied their urge to contribute, to serve their community. It was hard to tell who was happier – the people finding interesting volunteer opportunities or the organizations finding such willing volunteers (or the organizers who were deservedly pleased at the Fair’s success).

If you missed the Fair or you didn’t get a chance to stop by the Transition Town Media table but would still like to see what volunteer openings we have that might appeal to your strengths and interests, check out our “job descriptions”. They cover a pretty wide range: Events Coordinator, Financial Analyst, FreeStore Volunteer, Marketing Specialist, Member/Donor Manager, Social Media/Communications Manager, TimeBank Coordinator, and Youth Participation/Leadership Coordinator. All of these positions are parts of teams who will work together in each of these areas, so don’t worry that you’ll be carrying the ball alone.

Check them out! We would love to have you join us! And if you want to be part of one of our Working Groups on topics such as Local Food, Local/Sharing Economy, Resiliency Response (emergency preparedness), Inner Transition, Heart & Soul, the TimeBank, the FreeStore, Energy (including Solarize), Environmental Commons, and Mothership (outreach/education) – check this over, or go to our website for more details on each one.

Transition Town Media is all about creating a better future for our community by strengthening our resiliency in the face of the current challenges we face. Our volunteers are what make it happen. We hope you’ll consider joining with us.
