Helping Others to Awaken

June 11, 2013 by Marion Leave a Comment

Humanity is in the process of awakening.  We are beginning to understand that our choices and actions have an effect on the Earth’s web of life.  The danger of continuing business as usual cannot be overstated.   And given the gravity of our situation, time is of the essence.

There are some members of our human family who are not yet aware of the damage they are inflicting on the Earth.  How can we help them to realize that our world is in crisis?  One of our TTM Inner Transition members suggested that we think about the following questions when relating to others as we try to help them experience a shift in consciousness:

How did my inner transition begin?  How did I wake up?  What did it for me?  Would that work for others?  What did I care about that touched me?  What is most dear to me?  What do I want to protect?  Would that be my children?  Nature?  Community?  My very life?

Some of the people inflicting the most damage on the planet are corporate CEOs whose bottom line is profit at any cost.  As much as we’d like to bash CEOs, they are part of our human family.  Hating, judging, name-calling, arguing, chastising or fighting them is more likely to entrench them in their positions rather than change their minds.

How can we help corporate CEOs to awaken?  How can we humanize our approach in a way that they will hear us as we work to contain the damage they are causing?  How can we help them understand the far reaching and disastrous impacts of actions and decisions motivated only by profit?  What motivates them to do what they do?  What underlying pain, despair and anguish is driving their obsession with profit?

We can’t place all the responsibility on CEOs.  We also need to recognize the part we play in keeping their businesses profitable.  What products are we buying?  What kind of lifestyle are we choosing?

Give some serious thought to this blog and then take action.  Time is short and we have much to do.  We’re all in this together and we all need to become advocates for the web of life if that life is to continue.
