Annual Planning 2024 Results!

January 19, 2024 by Sari Leave a Comment

Can you imagine a town where bike paths crisscross and bridge communities? What if sidewalks and neighborhoods felt more like forests than concrete? Imagine listening and sharing over fire circles, nature hikes, or crafting? Do you want to learn more about edible plants? Do you want to connect more—with nature, your neighbors, and yourself?

If you answered yes to any of these, then Transition Town Greater Media (TTGM) might be for you.

On Saturday morning, Jan. 13th, the Media Borough Parlor room was buzzing as the 2024 TTGM Annual Planning event unfolded. With 56 community activists gathered from near and far, the group brainstormed, connected, and generated a roadmap for TTGM’s groups, activities, and projects. These energized community strategists envisioned a 2024 that helps build a stronger, more resilient, more sustainable Greater Media community.

The day began with a meditation of gratitude and remembrance, led by Rhonda Fabian. The group was reminded of their gratitude for friends who have been lost and of the many contributions that have brought TTGM to be the growing forest of community action it is today. “Branching Out” was established as the theme for 2024.

Ideas bubbled up from eight tables full of enthusiastic participants who connected with each other and projected their hearts and minds into the future. Their ideas were harvested, posted, and discussed. People volunteered to lead. People flocked to large sheets of paper to vote for their favorite dreams.

The results will be refined and rolled out before the end of January. Here are the preliminary results, spread across seven new working groups and 11 new projects.

These are the group and project names, without any specifics. They will be forming and initiating over the next several weeks. If you would like to be put in touch with one of these groups, please email [email protected] and indicate your name and which group you’d like to connect with.
